Are you missing a sunbath? Or are you just looking for a cool place in the warmer hours? In Florence there are not only museums and churches but even a beach on the river a few steps from Ponte Vecchio.
So take your sunblock, swimsuit and sunglasses, then go to "Easy living" Arno beach, near the tower of San Niccolò (map). There you'll find free deckchair rental, beach umbrellas, showers, and you can play beach volley, table soccer and table tennis (ID card or passport required). But attention: the river is not suitable for swimming.
You can also take a drink and relax sitting at the tables of the "Easy Living" cafè, just near the beach, in a garden with a nice view of Florence.
Here is also a big screen to view football matches of Euro2012 and the Olympic Games 2012. And on August 15th the tournement of sand castles!
