The tower with a human appearance. The "Nose" is a temporary installation by the French artist Clet |
A brand new place to visit and a spot to have a great view of Florence. Starting from today (June 25th 2012) it is possible to discover one of the most important remains of the medieval city walls: the tower of San Niccolò (MAP).
Built in 1324, it is not really a tower but one of the doors to enter into the city and to defend it from eventual invasions by the east side.
The amazing view from the tower |
The tower will be opened to visitors untill september 30th 2012, every day from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm. (last entrance 7.30 pm). Ticket € 3,00 (€ 8,00 including Palazzo Vecchio museum).
Entry is allowed in small group of around 15 people, every 30 minutes. A guide will tell you stories about the tower.
